Easter, burning inferno?

People around town built a massive bonfire, around 40X5 meters in area. Since February they've been throwing old x-mas trees, furniture, anything burnable to a huge mound out in the middle of a farm field. The fire supposedly chases away evil spirits and is a very good way to do your spring cleaning. Here's the thing tho - starting 4 nights before the night of the fire people start to guard the pile 24/7, all day all night for 4 nights. THey keep a look out for ppl from other villages trying to light their thing on fire before its supposed to, its pretty intense, but i sat at home thinking how they camp through the blizzard that just came in. Anyway here are the pics:

Alex and friends

Scuol, Switzerland

Was supposed to meet up this weekend for some good times and snowboarding. It rained all weekend and snow stormed on the peaks. So, we ended up staying in town on Saturday, managed to get a day in on Sunday. Scuol is thick in the mountains, i mean thick. 2000 ppl live here. 5 police.

Despite this we still got pulled over by the border patrol. Leaving the Austrian border is a stretch of no-man's land, which we thought was already Switzerland. These stretches of land don't really belong to any one country, and the borders pretty much change on a daily basis. We were surprised to have entered Switzerland a second time, but this time a couple of stern looking Polizei asked us to pull over to check us out. Seeing an asian dude in a BMW 320 from Germany, they just couldn't resist. =p








































Stayed over at a friend's place. In the center of the square are infamous Swiss springs where natural mineral and carbonated water flow out. The houses were mad old like from the 1700's but pretty young compared to the church that was built in the 1500's. Snowboarding was only 15 mins away on a free shuttle bus. If you don't ski or snowboard or make swiss cheese don't live here.

I'll definitely be back in the summer for some kayaking through this river.
